An Out of Country Experience
Hey, I’m Arlo Midgett and I want to hear your travel stories!
I created the “An Out of Country Experience” podcast as a way to record and share dramatic travel stories told by other travelers. Key word being “dramatic;” I want to hear about that time you got lost in the jungle, about the time your backpack was stolen with your passport in it, about the plane you were on that made an emergency landing. Tell me the travel stories you tell you friends over beers and we’ll share them with all the other travelers out there. But please: Happy Endings™ only! We want to promote world travel, not make people afraid to leave their homes!
In my mind, An Out of Country Experience is an offshoot of my own travel blog and podcast, Postcard Valet. I went ahead and created a different website for it, however you’ll find the same information (and much more!) contained on the parent site. I’m a big believer in people being able to choose the way they want to consume content, though, so if you’re not interested in my wife’s and my own world travels, feel free to subscribe to just the “An Out of Country Experience” audio podcast. These same episodes will be mixed in with our own travel videos on Postcard Valet, though, so if you like our travel videos, the Postcard Valet video podcast may be your one-stop shop for everything we do that’s travel related.
If you’ve stumbled on this site before it’s ready to go live (I know a couple entries were accidentally posted to my personal blog’s RSS feed when I was setting things up — oops!), you’ll notice all the entries are password protected. My goal is to have four interviews completed before “going live” with the podcast and I’m asking certain friends to tell me their travel stories — stories I’ve already heard — before soliciting stories from strangers. Also, I’ve never edited just audio before! One of the reasons I’m putting these online now is to get feedback on them so future episodes will be better. So if you’re curious and are willing to give me feedback, let me know and I’ll make sure you have the password so you can get a sneak peek at the first four episodes!
