McDonald’s of the World

After my first trip to Mexico, in 1997, I realized that I had been to a McDonald’s restaurant in every country I had visited so far (which really wasn’t that impressive, since I had only been to Mexico, Canada, and the US at that point.) Ever since, I’ve made it a goal to find a McDonald’s when I’m traveling, to see what new and exotic things they have on their menu. I plan to highlight some of these experiences this year on Postcard Valet.

The list thus far (29 countries):

Singapore

Malaysia

Thailand

United Arab Emirates

Estonia

Finland

Bulgaria

Turkey

Israel (including a Kosher McDonald’s!)

Jordan

Egypt

South Africa

Uruguay

Argentina

Chile

Puerto Rico, US Territory
Australia
Russia

Netherlands *
England *
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
Costa Rica
Venezuela
Bolivia
Peru

Ecuador
Mexico
Canada
US

* Eating in airports counts!

Countries I have visited, but haven’t eaten at a McDonald’s (9):

Cambodia –
Vietnam –
Laos –
Tanzania –
Zambia –
Namibia –
Botswana –
Cuba –
Colombia †

– Countries in which there are no McDonald’s
† Didn’t get the chance to visit a McDonald’s restaurant
